Self-confidence is sexy. And makes your life easier. We give you 8 tips to gain more self-confidence.
Self-confidence makes you more attractive and – just as important – gives you more pleasure in life . Do you want the questions “Am I good enough?” or “Am I beautiful enough?” banished from your mind forever? This will work with our tips.
What is self confidence?
Confidence means firstly that you consciously are of yourself . To know who you are, what you want and what you are worth. But in a broader sense, it also means self-acceptance.
Strengthening your self-confidence is about learning to deal with doubts and criticism .
This way you increase your self-confidence – 8 tips
1. Look at your powers
What do you like about yourself? What are your special skills? What do you like? Concentrate on these things. Cherish them. Get even better at it and look forward to it.
2. Accept what you cannot change
Focusing on your strengths doesn’t mean your weaknesses disappear. Everyone has weaknesses. They can be mental as well as physical. You can work on some things. For example, a few pounds too much or character traits that you do not like.
You have to accept other imaginary weaknesses, such as a crooked nose or a “wrong” eye color. Are they really a reason to doubt yourself? Probably not.
3. Make use of your potential
What are the weaknesses you want to work on? What is the lifestyle you would like to have, but which has not yet worked? Recognize your potential, analyze your resources and determine your goal. And then? Start working on it.
4. Accept compliments
You get a compliment. You answer with “Thank you, but…” and your head starts racing. Why is it not true what is said? Why aren’t you good enough? Stop! Just say thank you. Believe the other person and try to be happy with the compliment.
5. Don’t take criticism too personally
Someone is criticizing your performance or your reaction. This is not a criticism of your person, but of your behavior. You don’t have to be insecure, but think about whether the question or the criticism was justified. If so: Be happy with it, learn from it and do it differently next time. If not, please explain this in a friendly and firm manner.
Live your own life
The media tells us what to eat, how to exercise, and what to wear. That is beautiful. Inspiration helps you to grow. Especially people who fought for their goal and subsequently achieved it, are a great source of inspiration. Use their stories as motivation.
But: See your own wishes apart from those of others. This is also part of your confidence. You don’t have to imitate everything you see or hear. Is a superfood lifestyle not your thing? Fine. Then stick with it and live your own lifestyle.
7. Don’t compare yourself to others
Don’t measure your self-esteem by what others can and do, or can or do better. Being in competition with the world around you all day is nerve-wracking and disrupts your self-confidence. In this way, you lift yourself up over the imaginary mistakes and shortcomings of others. And this has nothing to do with self-confidence at all.
Try to be inspired by the strengths of others instead of being demotivated. There will always be someone who can do a little better than you. No reason to doubt yourself.
8. Express yourself
Yes No Maybe. Say what you want, what is important to you. With words, looks, attitude. Your physical attitude and mental attitude are dependent on each other. An upright posture, eye contact with the person you are talking to, and a clear point of view not only make you look confident, but also feel confident.
Self-confidence requires discipline
The above points cannot all be performed overnight. The first and most important step is to keep an eye on your thoughts. Be alert if you only focus on your weaknesses, refuse compliments, stand with your head bowed, etc.
Remember these signs and immediately try to change your mind. View the situation from a different perspective. Perception is like a muscle that you can train. The more you focus on a confident behavior, the more it becomes an inner attitude and naturalness.
- Learn to accept yourself with your strengths and your weaknesses.
- Don’t question your person if your behavior is being criticized.
- Always overthink your mindset and focus on the positives.
